Camshaft Position sensor

Has anyone used aftermarket camshaft position sensors? I bought an 04 G35 for my daughter for $3k. It has 193K miles which doesn't bother me much since I've owned 8 Nissan vehicles in the past and I've never had any real issues. Aftermarket sensors are about half the price of OEM. Your thoughts???

Hold up, hold up.

I never got this: the OEM Campos sensors are the ones known for NOTORIOUSLY FAILING. Why ya'll trying to go buy another piece if ****?

OP, I have one of those regular autoparts store ones and it has never given me a problem. Plus you get that lifetime warranty shizz..

Well, just so we're clear; I've had aftermarket and OEM and so far the OEM is the only one that's failed me. It'll be awhile before I can compare one to the other 'apples to apples' (or mile for mile) tho.

Point being is that the Nissan one has ALWAYS been a problem. I'm just not sure why everyone is so eager to replace it with the known failure version. Like I'd never put Nissan rotors up front again either; Fug that noise. Nor would I put their garbage comp rod bushings..

i replaced my cam pos sensors when i got my 2003 coupe at 106k miles as preventive maintenance, used the local parts store ones, also for the easy access warranty. do the spark plugs while you are in there and check on the valvecover gasket and spark plug tube leakage.

sensors arent supposed to last forever man. if it goes it goes. its not like it goes often usually people just change once and its good to go for awhile. people suggest oem bc its works best and doesnt cause any up front issues like aftermarket ones. maybe not last forever but it lasts a pretty long time

I used the one out of my 05 to put in my 07. That sensor might see 300k, if it does I will cast it in bronze and mount it on my wall.

Any of them are good. I'm 115k on original left with 15K on aftermarket.

OEM or aftermarket

I guess everyone has an experience, so here's mine. My passenger side (U.S.)/ driver side (***) went out. I replaced it with an aftermarket piece. Since then, my idle seems to be higher, especially on "slower" drives, and in stop and go traffic.

The idle rarely drops below about 750 rpm, except after highway speeds. Then it seems to behave until it cools down, then it goes back up.
