New Muffler
I have a 'RS Type' muffler that was welded up to fit any 03-06 sedan. I traded my stock muffler for it.. and immediately went out a bought a used stock muffler to re-install. It sounded great, but from 2500-3100 rpm it droned so bad my jaw started to hurt from clenching my teeth on my 20 minute commute every morning.
Moral of the story - buy a muffler that is designed for the G.
PS - the muffler is available in the FS section haha, but I wouldn't recommend it with stock exhaust.

I had a Tanabe Medalion exhaust but the drone, especially at 2500 rpm (70 mph in 6th gear) was pretty awful. A bit boomy sounding at part throttle acceleration too. First changed the muffler to a Dynomax Super Turbo muffler which definitely helped. Then swapped out the resonator with a Vibrant Ultra Quiet resonator. So still have the Tanabe pipes which are larger than stock but a better sounding resonator and muffler. So even going with a catback, and one that is otherwise reasonably quiet, just doesn't have the research an OEM system can have to eliminate objectionable drone or rasp.
The Dynomax Super Turbo muffler will fit in the OEM location (side entrance, center exit), probably 2.5" diameter will work. Doubt you'll see any performance gain because its so far back in the exhaust and the muffler really isn't a big restriction but you won't have any drone or rasp issues and you will get a bit more volume.

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods

There's a Magnaflow muffler for the sedan 05-06 that a number of members here have used and really liked it. I forget the part number though a search of the forum might find it.
