Sigh. What could this be after valve cover change?

Sigh. What could this be after valve cover change?

Been a stressful day. First start of the new valve covers didn't go well. There's a loud whistle noise coming from the passenger side or from the plenum. I put a stethoscope on the plenum and could hear the whistle. Couldn't do too much because it's night time and it's pretty loud actually. No check engine lights and the idle was normal for a cold start. Sorry for the crap video but I had to be quick to keep the neighbors happy. I'll try and get a better one tomorrow if needed. Any idea what to check for?

Sounds like a vacuum leak to me, doublecheck all around the intake sections to make sure something didn't get pinched between the gasket. Pay particular attention to the oil fill neck because that's VERY common to get pinched between the upper and lower sections.

I'll check in the morning. I can't believe my mechanic quoted me 3 hours of labor for this job. For now, can someone verify that I'm not missing a bolt here. It has threads so its gotta be for something.

It's for the plastic engine cover, you don't need a bolt there.

Lolol. Think I figured it out. I picked up a heater hose as a temporary fix to the cracked pcv hose. I installed it in the dark and accidently put the passenger side on the fuel rail. Will wait till the morning to test and will post the results

I would also keep a close eye on the wetness that is around the area I circled in blue.

I will monitor that. What could it be, bad gaskets? The insides of the plenums looked clean after removal

If the plenum gasket is pinched at all it'll whistle because all of that air coming through there.

Some are going to scream here but if you have a propane torch, open the valve on it and run the torch around the area you suspect and see if the engine speeds up. You can do the same with WD-40 although it's messy or carb cleaner which is far more dangerous. And I guess I have to tell you to NOT light the torch.

Interesting idea. ^^^^^ ill remember that one. Took the plenum off this morning and found another cracked hose. The hose that goes to the pcv valve. Hoping that is the issue

Since all those other hoses have gone to crap you should probably also thoroughly inspect the one that goes from your G/Z-tube down to the driver side valve cover.

The pcv valve hose fixed my issue. Cant believe it whistled so loud like that. I saw Z1 sells all three hoses together so I'll buy that soon. The intake tube to driver valve cover hose isn't too far from failing I'm sure. It felt just like the other hoses that broke. If anyone plans to do their valve covers or remove those hoses I would buy the hoses ahead of time. The coolant lines felt fine and were still flexible. Just seems to be the ventilation hoses that were beat
