Crashed G35

I crashed my 03 G35 due to the car turning off. It ended up cracking my front wheel when I hit the median. I changed the wheels and got the codes read. The mechanic, who is a former Nissan mechanic, said he's seen the cam position sensors go bad and it was the cause of the car turning off while driving. I checked the recall but my VIN is not listed. I contacted Infiniti and they gave me the song and dance about my vehicle not being affected by the recall.

Has anyone had this issue, where they crashed the car due to the cam position sensor (P0345) code?

I'm not aware of any recalls on the cam sensor, it's a wearable component that should he changed out roughly every 100k if you want to do preventative maintenance rather than repairs.

Yes the engine turns off when that sensor dies, this is a common occurance with every single vehicle on the road that has variable cam timing.

Due to the age of the G35 many people have this issue as their cars are in the 100k-150k mile range when those sensors fail.

Replace it with another Hitachi sensor and enjoy the drive for the next 100k.

There was a recall NHTSA Campaign Number: 03V455000 The circuit board for the crank position sensor and cam position sensor may have improper solder joints. This could cause the Service Engine Soon lamp to come on, the engine may not start, you could experience reduced power, or the engine may stall without warning, which could result in a crash. Dealers will replace the the crank position sensor, cam position sensors, and in some cases, the variable timing control sensors. The recall began on December 22, 2003. The Nissan recall number is R2022 and the Infiniti recall number is R3021

My VIN wasn't listed in the recall.

That recall was for a 2002 Nissan Maxima, unless I completely misunderstood you first post and that's what you were driving.

I suspect that those were the revision A sensors which makes sense why you can only find B/C/D revision ones now.

You can check using your VIN to see if your particular vehicle was covered under the recall.

I checked the VIN and it wasn't part of the recall as I had mentioned in my earlier post.
