Engine cover paint

Can anyone point me to a source of paint that will adhere to the engine cover plastic on the sedan and be heat safe? I'd like to paint my engine cover similar to the coupe.

Re: Engine cover paint

I bought some paint from Candian Tire (I'm in Toronto), but you can probably get this paint from any Pep Boys type or hardware store. Just look for a label that is High Heat. Mine says "High Heat Manifold Paint" and is rated to 648 degrees Celsius (1200 degrees Fahrenheit). Good luck.

It's still a G thang!!

Re: Engine cover paint

I found some that was 500 degree and some that was 1200 degree. I asked the guy if it was safe for plastic and he said that since it was enamel, it would likely eat at the plastic. Do you know what type of paint you got...even a brand name would be cool.

Re: Engine cover paint

Use the same type they paint the car with. Just make sure you sand the plastic cover with 400 grit wet or dry sand paper. And wash the cover with some Dawn dish soap to get off all the plastic residue and grease. This way the Paint will adhere real good to the plastic.......
