Hi everyone, so I just purchased a 2005 infiniti g35 coupe with only 114x miles on it. However I noticed driving it home from the dealer, 1), when I turn on my headlights my dash lights flicker (which to me is simply bad alternator). The other thing that I'm not quite sure what to make of, is this strange jolt I've experienced twice now. The "D" icon that shows what gear I'm in will go blank, stay like that for some time, then suddenly my whole car will physically jerk/jolt and the "D" will reappear on the dashboard. I'm not sure if this is a transmission issue, electrical issue, or what. Scanned the engine and it showed code U1000, then it also showed a M-Mode switch code for my transmission. This is the first infiniti I've owned, so if anyone has any advice that would be extremely helpful!

 

Hmm thats a code for a loss of communication. In your case, probably loss of signal to the tranmisssion ECU.

Today when I went to drive it it wouldn't start and when it finally did the "A/T CHECK" light came on. Not sure what to do at this point. I checked what grounds I could find in the engine, cleaned off the battery terminals. We'll see what happens. Hopefully it isn't too serious

 

Take it to the dealership for a diagnostic.
