Transmission type?
Transmission type?
How do I know what type of transmission I have so I can go look for compatible cars to replace mine. I seen on my housing it says CD0 #1 or something along those lines but I was told that’s not the actual type 05 G35 Coupe 6MT
Your car came OEM equipped with a CD009, there is a metal tag bolted to the right side of the bellhousing that will have the ID number/VIN number of the vehicle it was originally installed in and CZP will do a vehicle search for $3.00 USD to verify which revision a transmission is if you are looking at used one. This part number has been superseded by the CD00A transmission, you preferrably want an CD00A.
Technically any 6MT from 2003-2007 coupe, 2003-2006 sedan or 2003-2006 350Z will work but the earlier revision transmissions had few synchros on some of the lower gears and were notorious for premature wear.
If you are getting a used transmission then look up something like "how to tell if cd009" and you should be able to find some info on what to look for as far as casting stamps and the shift housing but personally I wouldn't buy a used transmission unless you either did NOT have one at all, or just needed a core, or you knew the person and verified that the synchros were good.
If it came out of a 2005+ it's a CD009 as long as it was the OEM transmission. You can buy a NEW transmission from your local Nissan for under $2000, or you can have yours rebuilt for around $1000 usually if you are doing the removal/installation.
