2003 G35 twin turbo fuel pump issues.
2003 G35 twin turbo fuel pump issues.
So let me start from the beginning. About 3 months ago i had an issue where my fuel pump relay popped. So after that no issue ended up swapping the relay. Several month later... same issue happens again where car dies while i'm driving and this time the relay was fine but mechanic determined fuel pump is dead. So ordered a new walbro 255 GSS342... from amazon... so that is another story. We put that in and the car was starting up and idling fine. But like before when i drive it out and when the car was under load not even 15 minutes from the shop it does again and the fuel pump is obviously not priming. So now i'm at a loss. I'm returning the fuel pump to the amazon seller but this time i'm ordering one from Z1 but this time i'll just have to patiently wait for them to come off back order. I'm suspecting maybe the one i order on amazon was either apart of a bad batch or litterally it was a counterfiet. I do know it had the walbro trademark and part number stamped in the metal but that might not mean anything.
Any suggestions of things i can check. I'm going to pull the pump but it would be nice if i could test it. Maybe i can get two wires and touch the positive and negative.

Yeah I would start looking around for any aftermarket wiring that's been added to the car, someone may have accidentally tapped off of the ECM fuse for powering some other device.
I would also pull apart the center console and make sure the ECM ground (and ALL OTHER ENGINE GROUNDS) is in good condition, it may have simply been age and corrosion on the ground that caused the issue, also check the power side of the battery and clean it up as needed.
If the fuse immediately blows then you have a dead short somewhere, check for damage to the harness particularly where it penetrates the firewall, might have some damage on the rubber grommet and it's just rubbed through to copper on metal. Don't be afraid to buy another fusible link holder, they're like $25 and sometimes corrosion causes them to fail internally.
