No crank, no start 2005 G35 coupe
No crank, no start 2005 G35 coupe
Really need some help on this one guys!!!
2005 G35 coupe
I've been having this issue on and off for a month. The car will be totally fine, ill park it, then all the sudden it wont start, or even crank over. I literally turn the key over and over again, and it will eventually crank, and start. Sometimes its 20 turns, sometimes it wont start for an hour or at all. It seems to do it after I take a drive. Ill drive for a bit, run in somewhere, come out and it wont start. Every time I come out in the morning it starts every time.
Battery is good, and I switched the ignition and starter relays out for good ones (used the headlight relays i knew were working) and nothing changed.
Is this just a bad starter or something else? It's just very strange it is doing it intermittently. I figured if it was the starter, it would be bad for good.
Any help is greatly appreciated

Does it ONLY do this when the engine is hot? When the solenoid fails it can commonly cause a "fail to start when hot" condition.
If so then yes, failing starter solenoid, new starter will fix.

It sure seems like it, maybe thats why it started today after sitting in the parking lot for over an hour changing relays etc, it could have cooled down?
When I come out and start the car in the morning its fine. Also after I take 30 minute freeway trips, it will do it about half the time, maybe 80mph air is cooling the starter enough.
Yep that sounds EXACTLY like a failing starter solenoid. They get heat soaked and you get hot start failure, it won't even make that loud CLICK sound, just NOTHING when you turn the key.
Once it cools down it starts.
Once it cools down it starts.
Thanks man, Ill post back after the new starter goes in and let you know if its fixed.
