While driving along my tack will flicker off and my speedo will go to 0 and the engine quits. Quite troubling. After I stop I can restart the car. This problem is accompanied by another problem that I will put in another post. Hayes you might imagine This is very troubling. The - lights stay on.

Sounds like a wet IPDM

 

Any check engine lights? Could be a cam or crank sensor.

 

what is a IPDM and how would it get wet. WHERE is it.

 

I have a CRANK POS sensor code. I will replace it and have the part already

 

In the rear right corner of the engine bay. It has a cover over it which protects it from water. But theres a water drain hole in that area which clogs up with debris and causes rain water to build up in tha area and flood the IPDM.

Heres a video showing someone replacing theirs.

 

Check all your engine grounds too.

 

Ok if you have a crank sensor code then the ECM is already telling you what the problem is.

 

Thank you for the help. I bought a crank position sensor from the local parts store. I should have paid more attention but I would think that the part they gave me what have a 90° error in orientation. I went from an intermittent start and the engine dying on the freeway for minutes at a time to a constant you need 20 cranks for the engine to fire. I talked to my local Nissan dealer and he never batted an eyelash and told me the crank position sensor I purchased at the local store would not work in my car. He wanted $160 for a part that I bought locally for 45 but 45 isn't a deal if it doesn't work. The Nissan part is working perfectly.

The info on that fuse/relay block module was price,
less and I thank you very much.

This system does not give me alerts when my post gets some posting.

 

I also had numerous error codes when the crank position sensor was malfunctioning. I had an ECM error code, lateral GeForce sensor, y'all sensor and an engine start relay error. Yet the car started. I had the local shop clear all my errors after I put in the crank position sensor and after I started the car I was error free. That was nice. Two days later I got the y'all sensor and the lateral G sensor stuff all back yet I had started the car maybe 10 times without those errors showing up. I ignored it for a few days and mysteriously the dash alerts went out.

This car does a lot of strange things and I don't like the manual that I have from online. Really glad you guys chip in.
