Please help I知 losing my mind
Please help I知 losing my mind
I致e been fixing my 04 g35 coupe up for the last 2 months and it痴 all come down to one last code a U1000 which is just the grounds I知 pretty sure but something I致e noticed through this whole ordeal is that not once have I seen 2 lights pop up that definitely should致e. I haven稚 seen my vdc slip light even though I press the button in a million different ways and also my check engine light has never shown itself yet and I致e had multiple misfires and a few other codes that should致e thrown one even when I try to force one by doing a reset that would make it pop up the light never does. I知 just lost at this point as to how I should diagnose any help or ideas would be appreciated
Might be time for a trip to Nissan, Consult II/III will be able to almost immediately identify which of the computers is throwing the U1000 code.
Last I heard the car wasn't running? Did you ever test fuel pressure? Does the engine run for a while at least?
You're saying you can turn the traction control off and the dash light doesn't turn on to show it? Does the dash have other malfunctions? It might be the cause of your U1000 but that wouldn't affect the engine running nor the misfire.
For the misfire, if the engine DOES RUN but has an intermittent misfire I would start with 6 new spark plugs and 1 new coil pack, and a new igniter. Put in the igniter, install the new coil on cylinder 1 and see if the misfire goes away, if not swap that coil with cylinder 3, then cylinder 5, then cylinders 2, 4, 6 to see if it's just a single coil that's causing the problem. Just write on top of the new coil with a sharpie or something to identify it from the rest.
Also the fuel pressure test, requires a sandwich fuel rail adapter like the one sold by Z1 Motorsports.
If it isn't a spark or fuel pressure issue it's possibly the fuel damper right above where the fuel sandwich adapter installs, you might consider just buying a new one along with the fuel sandwich adapter so you don't have to wait for delivery and only have to take those components apart once.
If all those things don't fix it then I would do 6 new injectors and the other 5 coil packs all at once.
If the car can be driven to Nissan/Infiniti I would do the diagnostic first though because Consult-II/III can turn off individual cylinders to help isolate exactly where the issue is. You can also do this with Nissan Datascan 2 if you have a laptop and are tech savvy enough to figure out which COM port the cable is plugged in to (not hard) then you can buy NDS2 and the cable, I think CZP has them for the least expensive. Check their website and compare prices to buying the cable and software as a package or separately. Sometimes it's cheaper to buy them separately for some reason.
NDS2 can also help troubleshoot some of that U1000 code since you can access all the major computers through it, if you can't connect then you know that computer is an issue. It allows you to connect (on a 2004 G35) to the ECM, BCM, ABS, TCM, SRS computers.
Alternately you can do the self-diagnostic on a lot of the computers in the car, if it won't self-diagnose then that computer might have failed.
