Please need some guidance! Drivability sucks on g35 sedan
About a month ago I purchased a 2005 g35 sedan. Shortly. after I started experiencing very poor drivability, the RPMs would be very high and it would not shift correctly. It’s like it would rev, but it wouldn’t have any power. It’s like it just was scooting along. It also smell like burning oil and it smell like gas. Somebody had recommended that I switch out some transmission solenoid on the valve body. There’s a code that mentioned the front brake solenoid or right brake solenoid and the coast solenoid and as of just recently it was a code of the speed, speed sensor solenoid. I took the valve body off and I replaced a couple of the solenoids , I want to put them back the check engine light went out briefly. I was even able to take it for a drive it had power and it drove fast but I left it for a night and then when I tried again to drive, the same issues occurred it was slipping. It was revving high and not shifting right it’s like it was stuck in gear and I was revving the engine, but it was barely going anywhere , sometimes it has a little bit of power and sometimes it’s very weak. I don’t know what else to do. I don’t have the money to pay for a mechanic to fix it so I try and learn things so that I could possibly fix it because somebody direct me to the right direction , I would like to know if the transmission is screwed up or can it be fixed and why would it be able to drive for a brief moment normal and then all of a sudden go back to the same thing somebody please assist me with your knowledge I appreciate it. Thank you.
Any time the transmission revs but you're not moving it's almost always either low fluid level, or a clutch pack/brake sleeve is worn out.
Since it smells like it's burning you probably have a clutch pack going out. Typically you'll smell it in the fluid as well.
You said you replaced a couple solenoids, were they the low coast and front brake solenoids? The vehicle speed revolution sensor is different, it's located in the tailshaft housing of the transmission. There is also a turbine input speed sensor.
Helps if you post the actual diagnostic trouble codes but it sounds to me like the transmission might be toast, start by checking the fluid level.
