AC Burning Smell

Hey guys, in the past month i have experienced burning smell from the AC vent when i turn the heat on. The smell only happens from time to time like 1~2 times a week. I have done a search found out that many people had experienced similiar problems, but i have not found the answer to this problem.

The smell is like burning plastic/rubber, i have checked i do not have a plastic bad stuck to my exhaust. But more like when i turn on the AC it has the smell...seems like there is something wrong with the AC?

Eugene

Burning Smell

Check for an oil leak. There may just be a small spot on the ground under your car in the garage. I, and others, have had an oil leak from the drivers side valve cover gasket. It drips directly on the exhaust manifold. Leaks are often from the top side of the valve cover. The leak can be slight and still make a noticeable smell. I smelled mine for weeks before the oil finally dripped on the ground.
