Hey All,
Wished my first post would be different as I am new to the g35 owners community. I just got a 2003 G35 Coupe with 160000. Car was great on the way back and i’ve putted about 300 miles in my month of ownership. The other day after installing a gktech angle kit and getting my alignment. My car suddenly stalled out on me. This happened as I had my foot on the clutch. To my demise, I assumed I stalled out and drove the car on the freeway back home when I realized my gas was going down way quicker than usual. I began to drive home when again, my car stalled out at a red light with my clutch pedal fully pressed. When i tried to turn the car back on, it struggled. This worried me and I drove the rest of the way slowly. I parked the car for a few days and ran codes. I received codes for the o2 but these were known to me since i know the previous owner did not install the sensors into the aftermarket test pipes. I also received p0300 and p0021. This led me to believe the issue was the driver side VVT solenoid. I went to autozone and replaced mine which was pretty caked up with oil. I completed an oil change and reset my codes but it sounds like my car is still misfiring or is simply knocking at this point. I love the car and I am considering swapping another motor into it. I have a LS1 in storage but will likely go with another DE.

That's a pretty drastic solution. These cars do not like aftermarket sensors. Get OEM or Hitachi (OEM supplier) sensors and swap out forthat Autozone sensor. Others have also indicated Denso sensors work.
is there a way to upload video? I would like to know your thoughts on what the motor currently sounds like. I have heard misfires but this one sounds like a knock. Would it be possible to blow the motor from driving it home on a bad vvt if that was the issue? I know a full replacement seems drastic but I fear this motor may be a money pit.

Rather than upload video, just upload to youtube and post the link here. Others on the forum are better equipped to answer your questions; I'm mostly just a dude working toward an OEM+ kinda car. Who is also deaf, so listening to subtle engine noises is not my strong suit....
