Newbie Needs help with OEM Air box

Hello All:
I have a 2003 G35 sedan that I have replaced the air filter with a K&N. Unfortunately I am having trouble getting the damn box to line up with the nipple underneath. I've tried just about everything I could think of and don't understand why something this simple should be so difficult to do. Can anyone assist?? Thanks.

I had that very same problem whenever I replaced my filter too. The only thing I can tell you is keep trying because thats all I did. I used a flashlight to look down there and just take your time and line it up. Thats the best advice I can tell you.

Thanks for the quick response. I've been at this for a couple of hours already without results. I'll give it another go but I'll tell you I'm ready to rip the box right out. Frustration level is now at 100%.

Still at it with no luck! Got the box to line up with the nipple several times but could not get it down over the nipple I've used all my weight to push this box down and still could not get this in. This should be simple but it is turning out to be a major PITA! If anyone could shed some light as to what I am doing wrong I would very much appreciate it. Thanks

I wish I could help but I didn't run into that problem. Then again I replaced the intake tube with a Z-tube at the same time.

Is there a posssibility that the nipple may have been distorted or bent (huh huh...distorted nipple..) during full force application?

Check for debris in the socket as well. Pics?

Quick! Run to the nearest aftermarket parts supplier and buy an intake! Hahah! Doing this would get rid of all the troubles that you have now.
