Getting two engines, are they worth it?

I'm about to aquire two VQ engines from 03 G35 coupes. One runs great only has 3K on it and the other one has a bent rod in it. I want to sell them. Do you guys think or know anyone that would take one of them off my hands? I'm thinking about keeping the good engine and selling the one with the bent rod for about 1,000 bucks, maybe 800.

What do you guys think? Is it worth it for me to take them in?

I would sell the good one and build up the other with forged internals and slap on turbos =)

Short block, long block, what do you have? $800 is a pretty good deal IMO. FYI, there's a guy on my350z.com selling a fully rebuilt long block with forged internals for $5800.

A bent rod? I would be suspicious of that. If you have ever seen a stock rod you would know that they are much more likely to just snap then to break. $1000 for basically just a block is kinda high, I think the stock block from Nissan is aroudn $1200. With a used block you would have to tear it all apart which isn't cheap if you are paying to have it done. However, if its a long block with all accessories (alternator, starter, AC condensor, heads) that is a good deal.

Gurgen,

How much are you willing to spend for a complete motor?

One completly works and another has a bent rod. I think the guy that had it hydrolocked. I don't see the common sense on how the rod got bent but I'm going to call ask and the full details tomorrow and let everyone know. Than I'm going to dump them to someon else.

Gurgen I will surely let you know, I remember you blowing your TT setup a while back. We'll talk.

Kevin,

I kinda let the cat out of the bag earlier on my350z.com, but the reason I ask, if you can belive it, is that my current sleevd engine has a problem.... YES, you heard it right... It's either a sunk sleeve, or a blown head gasket. I have hardly taken the car into boost, got about 1500 granny-driving miles on the engine... this really realy sucks...

So, I am contemplating jsut dropping in a stock engine for now and driving the car or selling it and getting a 6MT... I will formally post this in a few minutes on both baords...

Gurgen

I bought my LB to build and it had "two bent rods" and squsihed oil squirter.
But I tore it down for inspection before buying. It could have been worse.
If the Bent rod block is salvageable , and you sell the whole LB, you can get more tham $1000 for it easily.

I like copbait's idea. Re-build the bent rod engine. and sell the good one!

Unless you're planning on staying stock, what's the point of keeping the good engine. You know what they say, a busted engine is the perfect excuse to rebuild it! :-)

I'm not going to keep the good engine. I was thinking, wow this is great I have a good engine and I can swap them with my car and get an engine that only has like 3K on it and sell the one with 30... now I'm thinking, yeah but something is going to happen and my car will NEVER be the same.

I'm going to talk to the guy today, is there anything you want me to find our specifucally Gurgen?
