G H-Techs / TEIN CS coilovers
G H-Techs / TEIN CS coilovers
Those that have installed the G H-Techs for a conservative lowered stance, is the lowering .650 F and .300 R accurate? Hows the ride and has anyone added the Kokico shocks or sways in conjunction? Hows the handling? Is the rear too soft? I would think that the Kokico shocks and possibly an aftermarket rear sway bar could probaby be adjusted to help firm up the rear. I'm thinking this would be a good set up for me. I looked under my car last night to check out the ground clearance and don't want to lower anymore than that. Would the Tein CS coilovers be superior in ride or handling or just have height adjustibility? Any Tein CS owners please add comments as required.
I had the G35 H-techs and Hotchkis sway bars. I believe the drop was fairly accurate and front was certainly dropped more than the rear. The ride comfort with the stock shocks was very nice and it seemed a little softer than stock. I wouldn't call this a performance oriented spring, but I did do one track day without any noticable loss in handling compared to stock. I have no idea what the CS coilovers are like, but I imagine the handling would be improved although you would pay a premium for it. Also, my alignment was within all specs with the front camber being very close to being out.
I would highly recommend sway bars as they were the single most noticable mod I did. The G is a heavy pig and these really helped eliminate the body roll and understeer. Aftermarket shocks would be a very nice upgrade, but after you pay for those and the springs you are already into the Tein Basic price range.
Here is a pic of my former baby, may she R.I.P.:

I never had the H-Tech so I can't comment on that. But I think 1nate7 made a fairly good assumtion. The CS make a noticable handling diffrence and are still very comfortable like stock. The FLEX coilovers might be a little more track oritented, and on its softest setting is still pretty soft, but for some people they might not like it as it is not as soft/luxurious as stock.
I agree about the springs+shocks thing, once you pay for that you're already into the entry level coilover range.
