MOTOR OIL

i have searched these posts, i was wondering if anybody knows what kind of oil the g35 coupe uses. The dealership is offering me lifetime oil changes for only $150. Since i am buying the car, i want to put synthetic mobile 1 from the start...So i was wondeirng if it uses synthetic motor oil by stock, so then it is worth it to get the oil change deal.

Thanks in advance,
Rami

Whatever you do, do not switch to any synthetic oil until you hit around 10,000 miles. The synthetic oil will push through your engine rings and your G will begin to burn oil very lightly, but enough to notice. Stay with non- synthetic oill until past the break in point, which is 10,000 miles or so. Trust me. Even 4,000 miles is not enough! I just saved you around $5,000 to replace your rings! Well, maybe warranty would cover the damage.

I switched to mobil one after 2000 miles and have no problems. I currently have 23000 miles and my car is running as strong, if not stronger than the day i bought.

synthetic mobile 1 5W X 30
is what my Infiniti dealer suggested to me. and to change every 7000miles.
i will probally only go 5000 miles between
def. follow the post before mine for the break-in .. or ask your dealer-get them to put it in writing so that if anything happens.. you are free and clear.

I agree, if you got a problem with oil control after 2000 miles with an off the shelf syn oil there are bigger problems than the oil IMO.

Motor Oil & changes..............

I honestly don't know where some of you get the
bull **** you post. Especially about not using
synthetic oil until you reach 10K!! My last car a '92
300ZXT had 125K on the clock when I sold it and I
switched to synthetic at 1K......and by the way never
used a drop between changes. On my G I've done
exactly the same thing and at 13K still haven't seen
any oil usage. So guess what, your knowledge of
when to switch is unfounded! (see I'm being kind)
