Need for Jet-Hot coating?

Just bought some Alphawerks headers. Hear of people coating them to reduce engine bay heat. How necessary is this, and how can I contact this company?

It seems to me that it's rather unnecessary unless tracking the car, or else you'd need to coat the WHOLE exhaust system. The temps in the Y-pipe, for example, can't be that much cooler than that of the headers. Am I basically right?

Call Jet-Hot and they will send you free information kit with video. I would recommend doing it. It should prolong the life of the headers. In addition, the clearances and temps from the headers worried me a little. For what you paid for the headers, it is good insurance.

do you think heat from the rest of the exhaust system will dissipate into the engine bay?

Well I did it with my Crawfords. I hoped it would reduce the temperatures in my Engine Bay. I got their standard coating JetHot Sterling. It will get hotter than the standard manifolds, because they had a heat shield, and they also had a pipe in the middle of the manifold that formed an air gap. I've only had them on a week, so it's too early to form an opinion if the JetHot works or not.
