ok i'm thoroughly confused. what happens to those of us that recently picked up the 3/8th kit?

 

Im confused as well. What I got is this:

You CAN put the 5/16" Motordyne Iso Thermal spacer on top of a 3/8" Spacer?

As whether or not there are performance gains using BOTH spacers on an NA engine is unknown at this time tho?

You can also use the Iso Thermal upgrade. I'll be setting up a GB for the MIT spacer and the MIT upgrade so I can hook you up when it starts.

When you order the upgrade, just tell me what size spacer you currently have and I can send you the appropriately sized components.

There is the Motordyne Iso Thermal (MIT) spacer. Its the Motordyne 5/16" or 1/2" spacer with a Iso Thermal upgrade as part of the kit.

Then there is the stand alone MIT upgrade available for everyone who already has a Motordyne plenum spacer. This upgrade does not contain a spacer, but it has everything else needed to allow the plenum to run 30-60 deg F cooler.

...Just recently another G35driver board member measured his plenum temperatures pre/post installation and measured a 36-81 deg F decrease in plenum temperature.

I wanna know how this thing works also - can't find anything about it on the website (yet).

I haven't installed my 3/8" yet - waiting for a free weekend, so maybe I can do both at the same time. Will the stock engine cover still fit with the 3/8" and the thermal spacer? Any pics?

set on my G about 6 months ago before I installed the 1/2" MD spacer and it definitely helps with heat transfer. No problems with clearance, but this is a two piece set. One pair goes between the heads and the very lower section of the manifold. The 3rd piece goes between the lower section and the middle piece with the intake trumpets. Its worth the effort as I could feel a difference even without the spacer. After the spacer, it was even better.

 

Anyone hear anymore recent news on the new Motordyne products?

Been considering the short spacer for my 05 5AT, but wasnt sure, because I didnt want to give up low end torque for highend HP??

Either way Im interested in the plenum cooling part.

Here is a picture of a 350Z Motordyne Iso Thermal plenum spacer kit.
Even though its not shown on the website, all kits are shipping as MIT.
I'll be working on getting all the technical information and pictures onto the website this week. They are shipping!

Edit: And they never lose torque! They only produce HP and TQ gains.

 

For all of us that already have the 3/8 spacer installed, can you show what is in just the thermal kit? Can you use the engine cover with the 3/8" and the thermal upgrade kit?

I'll have pictures of it posted on the website soon. And yes, it fits with the 3/8", but on some cars it may cause the plastic cover to touch the hood insulation. If it does the result is essentially inconsequential. It would show up as a small 1/8" dot on one of the bumps in the upper right hand corner of the plastic cover. This is due to variability in the vehicle build tolerance stack up.

 

has anyone installed the plenum spacer without reseting the ecu? does the onboard ecu adjust itself? is it capable of adjusting with this mod?

From what I've found on the dyno, the ECU automatically adjust.
Additionally, sometimes a ECU reset can make a difference and sometimes it doesn't.

 

thanks hydrazine, so who do i talk to about getting a 3/8 plenum spacer? i really want one now.....i want to slap one on and have my g dynoed and find out what ive gained with my current set-up. this is my everyday car and hoping that my gas consumption wont increase. i dont really have a heavy foot so i hope this helps
