Not sure... But I do think that it is a capacitor after having a look at the photos of the insides of the HVS(350Z forums). And the fact is that a capacitor does not need two wires to be connected as discussed in 350Z forums..

I am planning to install Gords grounding kit...... also borrow a HVS from my friends Civic.... Would post my findings....
