fuel prices

with gas prices up so d@mn high.. i was wondering if anyone has tried to fuel up with regular unleaded and used an octane boost. If so how is the performance affected???

I think you would have to do the math and see if there is any savings in doing that. Most of the (quality) octane boosters I've seen around $7-$10.

^Which would equal the price differences in gas (20 cents more here) after two fill ups.. so thats $4.00 extra for premium on a full tank, which makes that idea a little impractical.

is 91 octane a must in our vehicles? can we get away with using a lower rating and have it not affect our engines?

I just put in Premium Gass for Exxon at $3.14 / Gallon on September 3rd. I think it is this high from the Katrina Hurricane and Labor day weekend. Man, did that hurt just putting in half a tank of gas and it coming to 33 dollars! (Yes, I was very close to empty, and shame on me for that :-P) Now, the manual says you can put in 89 octane but don't put in a full tank and don't rev it high and don't do it too often.

O MY GOD you people buy a car this expensive and cry like babies for gas. Go ahead, put Diesel and fukup your car, trade it in for a civic and get out.
