Coupe Evap Canister location??

I'm trying to gather some exhaust info...
& came accross this pic, (I forget where)....

Can anyone tell me if this is the normal location of the fuel evaporation canister?
I noticed the funky looking heat shield too, is that normal.

No, It has been re-located because of the Evo 2 exhaust. Stock location is behind the pass rear wheel. Mine came with a nice bracket not a bungee cord like the pic. The heat shield was also added.

Thanks..
When you relocated did you also extend the lines?
or were the OEM lines long enough to re-route to the new location.

That thing was a pain in the **** to move, especially when you're trying to reach in and remove all the screws on your back.

The OEM lines are barely long enough, I extended the lines just for safety and move the canister completely in the middle of that area, because it was awfully close to the exhaust. Its pretty easy once you remove the canister though. Good luck!

Does anybody know where I can get the dimensions of the EVAP? I bought a used EVO2 that doesn't have the relocation bracket. I want to make the bracket before I remove the stock exhaust.

the Greddy bracket bolts up to the 4 studs you see underneth between the two canisters. The exhaust in the pic does not look like a real Greddy evo2

That pic. you have listed with the greddy exhaust is actually a custom set-up.The rear mufflers are at a slight angle, which is not found on the original greddy Evo2 system. (ie: like Injen, HKS etc.) I remember seeing it in an older post a couple months back. I just ordered the Evo2 last week, after alot of research. Now im playing the waiting game.

I know its not the EVO2. I have one sitting in my kitchen . I bought it from a member on here, but it doesn't have the bracket to relocate the EVAP. I want to fabricate one before I remove the exhaust so the install goes faster.

Hey inTgr8r, if this is for your car... have you found a place to relocate it to?

Stock Location:

I installed it in the middle of the trunk floor. I used 3 3/8" bolts/nuts (14mm socket) with lock washers, ~2' of 5/8" rubber hose, ~1' 3/8" hose. It is held up by a plastic bracket that is part of the unit and by a strap a buddy made me out of aluminum. Here are some pics:

Does anybody know why this ground is here?

I haven't reset my ECU yet, so I don't know if my CEL will stay off now. I will reset it tonight.

Does anybody know if the evap canister needs to be kept at the same level as the tank or not, or mounted in the same orientation? One of my winter projects for my sedan is going to be making true dual exhaust, and I need to relocate the evap canister...was thinking of the trunk?

Good luck with that....
I went down this road about a year ago (start of thread) & gave up.

Mainly because, as you have discovered there's precious little room to re-locate it.
I had it pretty much figured out by moving it sideways towards the fender;
which would allow just enough room to pass the tail pipe.
Needless to say heat shielding would be required.

There is also info on my350z in this thread... LINKY
where the canister was removed completely.

FWIW, I would NOT mount it in the trunk.
Something about a closed canister full of gas vapour in the car...
-----not very safe.
I'll be interested to hear how you make out.

RE: elevation
I doubt it makes much difference.
The vapour is gathered as they expand from the tank (pressure)

Thanks for the advice; I'm thinking of something along the lines of a sealed battery box, mounted in the spare tire well and vented through the pop-out. Still investigating all the possibilities as this point; I'll post something when I get it figured out and finished.
