gas smell during oil change????

I changed my oil last week, and I noticed the very distinct smell of gasoline in the oil. Is this normal on these cars? I am concerned!

Thanks,

Andrew

I notice it also on my car. I sent a sample to Blackstone for testing. I will let you know what they say. If it is my rings or seals I want to get them replaced before my warranty is up.

I assume that Blackstone is some sort of chemical analysis facility. If so, how much and how long does it take to get a sample analyzed?

Thanks,

Andrew

Got my sample results today. Even though it seemed the smell of gas was strong, it showed that there was less than .5%, it says it should be less than 2%, so my oil is fine.

If you go to www.blackstone-labs.com you can check out the the type of testing they do. First you have to request a couple of sample containers. It costs ~$20-$40, depending on the tests. I paid $30 for the regular test and the additive test (TBN test). It took less than a week for mailing and testing.
