Mobil-1 or Amsoil?

I understand that most people use 5W-30 synthetic oil. What's your preference? Mobil-1 or Amsoil?

I bought some 5W-30 Mobil 1 recently but have not put it in yet. I think M1 will provide enough protection, plus it is easy to find and probably cheaper than Amsoil. Amsoil & Redline are both very good though, I've heard.

I used Amsoil on last change (motor), but would not hesitate to use Mobile 1... both are equally fine. Mobile 1 has a huge benefit by being more readily available (as another poster stated).

Replaced differential oil w/ Mobile 1 synthetic (couldn’t find Amsoil anywhere).

I have Amsoil. Bottle says you can go 7500 miles between changes. I only did that mileage with my Acura RSX. With this car, I've done 5000 miles before, it seems to do fine. Only problem - you must by off www.amsoil.com

I know a distributor about 10 mins away from my house, but then again I live in Riverside.

I ran royal purple in my car before this last oil change and I loved it. I went Mobile one this time only because I didn't have time to go over to Atlanta to buy the Royal Purple. Unfortunately I can't find it anywhere here in Alabama.

1. I buy my AMS OIL from Napa.
2. Isn't AMS OIL a true synthetic and mobile one only partially synthetic and partially dyno?

Mobile 1 makes a full synthetic and a sythetic blend.

You're correct on number 2. Mobil 1 Synthetic technically isn't full synthetic. Part dyno & part synthetic. Still a good oil nonetheless. I personally prefer Amsoil.

Also, there is no entity that regulates what can be advertised on an oil container.
