mobil 1 is over-rated, it cant handle high temperatures. i reccomend royal purple, amsoil or redline.

Can you back this up? Plenty of high-performance cars use Mobil 1. In fact, many of them RECOMMEND Mobil 1.

Give us proof that it doesn't hold up in high temperatures.

i've used mobil 1 on my honda at the tracks, along with amsoil and redline. i've had first hand experience. my oil temp was running hot on my 4th run in Willowsprings with M1.

Which kind of Mobil 1? Are you saying flat out that Mobil 1 is crap oil and that nobody should use it or are you basing this on your one time experience at the track?

Why 5w30 and not 10w30? Is it going to really matter? I live in a state with 4 real seasons, so I had been sticking with 10... should I go to 5 when I begin synthetic at 10K miles? Thanks!

Castrol Syntec is not a full synthetic. It has been tested. Mobil 1, Redline, Amsoil are all full synthetics now.

And in tests Castrol GTX actually out performs the Synthetic.

Castrol GTX 0W30. If it's Porsche approved, it should be good enough for your G35.

I run Mobil 1 at the track in the Gcoupe and it has been fine. To address the issue of heat you need to understand that no oil is a limitless heat sink. You have a cooling system problem if you are overheating. That means you may need to do a few things to improve it. You may increase the size of your oil capacity by putting in a bigger pan (I run 7qts), increase the size of your radiator and its efficiency (like an aluminum Koyo with a core that is about three times the size of the stock plastic unit), try an additive like Redline Water Wetter, improve the airflow over the radiator, improve the airflow across the block by ducting and also venting the hood to draw off the hot air, and finally reduce engine load by dropping some weight off the car. I ran my car at the big track at Willow Springs in 106 degree temperatures and the needle was rock steady on normal. Tires were melting like brownies in the oven, but the engine temp with Mobil 1 was just fine. Redline, Castrol, Motul, Amsoil.......all outstanding products.

FYI guys, Mobil 1 is no longer a full synthetic....read here:

http://theoildrop.server101.com/foru...e=0#Post752599
Also many other topics. Mobil 1 changed there formula again where it now only has Group III instead of PAO in it.

Amsoil and Redline are now the only two who use PAO which is a better base stock.

Mobil 1 still says full synthetic on the label! And I
agree Amsoil and Redline are good oils but this
posting is some guys opinion not fact! His opinion
doesn't prove ****. Mobil states that their base is
PAO and beyond that the won't tell you how they
make their stuff....would you?
