Plenum Spacer? Basic NA mod questions

So I just purchased my G35c MT. I really like the car, just a few things that I what to change. I need more power.... Before this G I had a 98 max 5spd with a few bolt ons and was running low 14.5's at 96-97mph. Taking the G out on the interstate it just doesn't feel much faster than my old car. (maybe a little)

So here comes the debate. I know I will probably go FI once I put a few more miles on it, but for now I would like to stay NA. What are the NA mods you can do that is not considered wasted $$'s before going FI. I want to add on NA mods that can still be used basically once I get a SC or TC (Still debating on that too).

I guess if I go SC then the exhuast could be redone from the heads back, but if I go TC then I might need to wait on most the exhaust.

Also, just reading up on the forums I have noticed the mod of a Plenum Spacer. Would this be something that could be added and used with FI?

Anyway, new to the board and am greatful for any info, links, or tips!!

Oh, you bought an 03-04? Sorry to hear that Well, the Plenum will work for you then or even the spacers. Those won't work on the 05's. However, the new mod that is so hotly anticipated in the thread above is suppose to kick **** for the 05's.

Yes... bought a 2003. Think the dealer said 2003.5 but no idea what that truely means or how to even double check it. He just said I had warranty on it longer or something..... yadayadayada

So looks like I need to do my research on the Plenum and spacers.... Such as finding out which one is better or if they both can be used, HP gains.... ect...

Klumzyee (The 8th. Dwarf? hehe) is pretty knowledgable about this stuff. As I heard, you can't do both or rather you can but it won't do you any good. Go with one or ther other. As I hear, the spacers are the easiest to do and the Plenum are pretty costly for what they give you.

Silverbolt's 5/16 Spacer w/iso thermal kit with gaskets was installed in 45min at a 7-11 parking lot in the middle of the night.

Aznteazer's thermal kit including gaskets was installed in the dark.. pitch black.. only light we had was a white shirt reflecting off his own head lights lol.. damn that was ghetto but it took like an hour or something x.x..

I think we took off the spacer on alex's car in 15min or so x.x lol

Just go with a spacer, preferably the shorter 1/4" or 3/8" spacers because you can still use the factory cover making it nearly impossible for an Infiniti tech to spot and there isn't much difference in the gains between spacer heights. A 1/4" spacer has over 90% of the gains of the 3/8" spacer.

As for the G being about the same as your Maxima, I was in the same boat. My 96 Max with bolt-ons (MEVI, Y-pipe, ECU, intake, B-pipe, 2001 muffler) was doing 14.3-14.4@98-99mph with the passenger seat removed and 96 octane. My G felt a bit slower (more like 14.7@95mph). I took it to the track in May and it did 14.4 and a few 14.5s at almost 98mph with one mod that probably doesn't add any power. No weight reduction, no race gas. In the same conditions (70s and bit muggy), my Maxima ran the same kind of times (14.4-14.5@97-98mph). I imagine that if I run my mostly stock G in cool crisp dry 50 degree air, it may match my Maxima's 14.3s. These cars are decessiving quick. It's probably because they're a bit more refined and have a fatter powerband.

Hmm DaveB. I went by Victim64 on Maxima.org. Long time no see.

I think I am just used to the growl my maxima had with my mods. Going to the track soon to see what the true diffrence is.
