URGENT: MREV installed + 5hp / + 16 ft/lbs only? and Pinging

Hi guys I got my MREV installed at Z Car Garage earlier and I got a + 5hp / + 16 ft lbs gain. Somehow the hp gain is lower than what other people have seen any ideas ?

Also, my engine is pinging after the MREV according to Rob and the technician. So they said that I would have to get a Unichip programmer to
smooth prevent the pinging and that thing costs a whopping $951.25.

SAE smoothing 5
Dynoed base:
231.43 hp 213.00 ft lbs

Dynoed with MREV plus without unichip:
236.58 hp 229.68 ft lbs

Dynoed with MREV plus with unichip:
242.35 hp 236.17 ft lbs

Has anyone encounted the pinging problem? I really need to do something about it before i screw my engine up.
I will be posting the dyno sheets up later tonight.

Hmmm . . . Did you hear your G pinging?

I have considered getting the UniChip, but that would be later on, after I had a few more mods installed.

Uhm I hear a tick once or twice but I'm not really sure since I'm not a gearhead. But Rob did seem like a really nice person and knew what he was doing. He tried to duplicate the ticks by driving me around the block. It only happens at 5k-7k rpm.

what other mods do you have? i wonder if this pinging problem is something common... i'm not sure i've ever heard an engine ping before but it makes me hesitant to pick up a spacer...

I don't want to say . . . But can someone comment on the base dyno numbers? Do they look right?

What were the A/F numbers?

I'm heading out to dinner. I will be quite interested, as this thread develops. I know that Tony is preparing for testing, today. Perhaps he might have a chance to drop in and offer his comments.

You might have only picked up 5whp/16wtq in the peak, but I'd bet your powerband overall has been elevated significantly with some areas of curve gaining 20whp/20wtq. Remember, peak numbers are for bragging rights. Power under the curve wins races.

IM trying to figure out what you are trying to say here? If your car was not "pinging" before the install, It should not be doing it after. Was a unichip installed? Was a reset performed on you car? How many times did they dyno your car? why would Rob want you to install a 900.00 part to fix a 500.00 part? Your dyno numbers look low to me for the most part.
IM sure there is a simple problem here that can be fixed, No worries bro.! We can get this figured out. The Unichip is not the onset. Awaiting a reply.
