I noticed that sometimes when accelerating hard between 4000-5000rpms I hear a howling (kinda loud) which sounds like its coming from somewhere in the dash. I remember reading somewhere of someone who had a similar problem. It doesnt happen all the time but when it does its bad.

Anyone with experience with this?

add: It seems to be the different then the howling that occurs when the car is first accelerating when cold. This happens even when the car is at normal temps, and been running for a while 20min+

 

is it only when the car is cold? i know if a howling sound when the car is still cold that comes from that area...

 

happens more if cold but also happens when hot.

 

Still happening, I'm thinkging about removing the ztube and seeing what happens.

 

I have a Z tube and K&N drop in and I don't have any difference in sound or anything like that. I just did it to save a bit of gas. Don't know that it really did. But its in there now!

 

is it your shifter?

hold the shifter and squeeze it while you're driving in that rpm range

it sounds like it's the dash or engine bay, but even the stock shifter rattles some
