Peformance Question

I have 1200mi on my G35 Sedan now and the car gives me a feeling that it accelerates not as good as it was to be. Even I floored the gas pedal, it was really not as fast as the 1 week I got the car. Does anyone here has a same problem?

Re: Peformance Question

Just passed 14000 miles and if anything, it feels like the motor loosened up a bit. No dyno figures to back it up, just seat of the pants.

Re: Peformance Question

Now the question is did you drive it like an old lady? No offense to old ladies. If so you have to drive a little more aggressively for the computer to learn.

Re: Peformance Question

Try disconnecting the battery for 12hrs. This zeros the computer and gets rid of the "old ladies". It'll be good as new again.

Re: Peformance Question

Are there radio codes that have to be reset? I need to do this. I made the mistake of babying the G during break-in period.

Re: Peformance Question

You don't "need" to disconnect the battery to train the computer in the ways of the Jedi, just start driving more aggressive and it will pick up on the change.

Re: Peformance Question

No radio security codes as far as I can tell. I guess that is one good thing about Infiniti making everything one unit. Won't do thieves much good to have a/c controls as a part of the radio.

Re: Peformance Question

That's true Tre5, (as far as I've learned). But to do it that way will result in a gradual increase or change in performance because of 'averaging'. A service tech told me (not in great detail) that to notice an abrupt change in performance to disconnect the battery to clear all the memory at once. This takes 12 hours which sucks but worth the wait. As far as I know the only resetting you'll have to do are the presets on the radio. No biggy.
If you want to confirm this, talk to a tech at your dealership .

Re: Peformance Question

I don't understand the point of a computer controlled transmission thats driver adaptive to how you drive. what is the point? why wouldn't just hitting the gas pedal dictate that. Also how does it exactly work. So does this mean if you drive slow for a while meaning 200 miles lets say then you want to gun it you will get less performance than someone who was gunning it all the time for 200 miles just does not make sense.

Re: Peformance Question

Fal900, Yes basicly if you drive slowly and carefully without using the performance of the engine much then the system adapts to that driving style. What I was told was that this 'learning' phase takes some time driving Let's say a week.
During that week the 'learning' process is gradual so that you won't notice much difference in the car while it adapts to your driving style. The problem is that 'this style' changes at lot from 1 week to the next depending on many things and if you suddenly change needs from economy to performance the learning process has to start all over again. (another week, right?) This is why it was suggested to me that disconnecting the battery for 12 hrs. erases the previous learning curve and a new one was started immediately AT the higher performance level.
So why is the car set up that way? It's an example of automation gone crazy IMO, Some things you need and want control over and deciding momentarily what performance level you want is one.> A simple switch like you'd find on other cars would have been the 'The Cat's ***' to choose from PERFORMANCE/CRUISE........... Let's hope future models will incorporate that change for us performance junkies

INFINITI-----ARE YOU LISTENING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope this helps, I for one am planning on experimenting in the future with the 'resetting' and will post with results..
Later........

Re: Peformance Question

Infiniti engineers need to take a cue from BMW's Steptronic on this one. Also adapative in normal mode, when you slide over into the manual gate, it switchs to Sport mode (ditches the adaptive pattern in favor of a pre-programmed performance shift pattern) but is still auto. Then, once you manually change gears once, it goes to full manual.. holding whatever gear you put it in. Unlike our G35's manual mode which is still an auto and shifts on it's own thru every gear between first and the one you pick. The transmission is the only place I feel shortchanged when I picked the G over the 3.

Re: Peformance Question

lets try not to floor it.

lets find the power band keep the rpms between 4500 and 5500

other then that, when u get your first oil change you will feel the power again
