why is this so popular? isn't the after market one go for about 90$ each?

^The aftermarket piping is larger than the HR Y-Pipe so it isn't exactly the same. The HR Y-Pipe doesn't loose any power on the low end per dynos (only a few hp not a big deal) but has the same gains on the high end. Larger piping could also add rasp depending on the rest of your exhaust setup.
