Galveston Cruise 8-16-09- (Time Change)

Where: Start at Uptown Park end in Galveston
When: Sunday, August 16, 2009
Time: 2:00pm till we all go home
Why: Because its summer and cruises down to the beach are always fun!
Who: Everyone is welcome. I have a couple buddies in M3’s coming as well as some corvettes, but mostly probably will be G/Z
Doing what: Hanging out eating and having a beer!

Lets try and start getting a role call going.

I was thinking cus of the heat. A couple other people on my350z said they might like it a little earlyer. I'm open for changing the time if it works better for more people. What time were you thinking?

Well it is finally done! I have reserved GSS for a track day on August 22nd.

The cost is going to be 3350.00 to include track, insurance, & ambulance.
Gonna limit it to about 20 cars as we don't want to much traffic.
Cost will be 250.00 per person.
If we get more participants then I will refund cash to everyone.
If we get less than expected/ bring cash or your checkbook.

No bitchin' about the price if you have to pony up more and I won't complain if I have to refund some back!

http://www.grandsportspeedway.com/

Rules are:
1. No alcohol
2. Must have SA2000 or newer helmet (on your head!) FYI: motorcycle helmets won't work!
3. Nomex if you are in a race car.
4. Long pants (no nylon workout pants) such as cotton or jeans for people driving street legal cars.
5. No passengers are allowed unless you are a licensed instructor. (insurance stipulation)
FYI: If you want to show someone the fastest line; have them do a "lead and follow" at 60% full speed to be safe.

We have the track from 9am-5pm
Gate opens at 8am.
Drivers meeting at 8:45 am. If you come in the afternoon just get with someone before going on the track for instructions.
Gate closes at 6pm.

Some of the buildings were lost in the hurricane but they do have port-a-potties.
I suggest bringing some tailgating popup tents for shade and coolers with tons of water, etc.

Fill this out if you want to come have some fun!

Didn't mean to jack the thread- saw that this thread was about getting people together to drive and figured they might be interested in a track day to test their rides out.

Yeah thats when you start your OWN thread about track days. If you looked then you would have seen there is already a thread about a track day coming up. Dont jack threads.

ha chill out drew!

he's just trying to fill the spots, and he's got a long way to go considering the price haha. I like his enthusiasm, or maybe it's fear of footing the 3000+ bill himself ha

Hey everyone-
No worries on the verbal lashing for threadjacking! New term to me so I guess that fulfilled my learning something new that day task.

Yes it is still on. We have 13 right now. Talked to a friend yesterday that was out of the country on vacation and got the email when he got back Sat. He has 4-5 more that should be coming. No worries on the getting stuck with the 3k bill. My 24hr Lemons team was renting it for a test and tune anyway. Just had a bunch of others asking if they could come when they found out; so, we decided to open it up. B/C of the "economy" we figured most would back out anyway. Just figured there were enough out there with the passion and <=$250.00 to blow.

Please PM me if there are any other questions! Later.
