DIY 5/16 spacer and oil pan spacer

Been searching...unable to find DIY links for above mods.

Didn't get Mrev, just the spacer. Lots of threads, but haven't seen a good DIY. Is the spacer alone a no-brainer?

Little help?

I've read that it's easy and motordyne gives good instructions? Also read that a spacer could be used with the MREV on your car (if you should decide you want a little more).

My '03 is limited to a spacer or the MREV2. MREV2 is looking nice with a soon to be installed z-tube and pop charger.

Yes, I understand that mrev improves the gains, but thought I'd play with the spacer first before I dropped more coin.

Anyone install the oil pan spacer? Dipstick is such a PIA...I thought $100 was worth the insurance.

The instructions that come with the MD spacer are good. It's pretty straightforward. If you didn't get the instructions, I have them scanned in a PDF if you want me to email them to you.

Just don't overtighten the bolts.

I don't know anyone who has installed the oil pan spacer, but it should be pretty straightforward as well. You may need to get two gaskets, if the oil pan requires them.

Curious, which oil pan spacer did you get? I shopped and liked the JWT, but it's low on the mod list. Installing... will probably need to torque the bolts.

the only thing I don't like about the oil pan spacer is that you have to space down the oil pickup tube, also.

additionally, now your oil pan is hanging 1" lower and is more likley to be in the way of debris.......should you happen to drive over a large object. I am not sure if the pan is still protected by other parts of the car. Maybe, someone who has a pan spacer can chime in on this.

the APS pan looks nice, but it is around $400.

On ebay, there is a "JDM" oil pan that looks like the APS. I tried serching the forums here and on my350z, but I could find any posts on this ebay oil pan. This pan sells for around $100-$120.

I saw those on eBay as well. Seems like a good deal, but I am always skeptical. I wonder if it fits the X?

I put mine on a few months ago, its kind of an annoying install. Most of the work is from prying off the oil pan and cleaning away the silicone gasket stuff. But yeah, no need to get any gaskets, you're supposed to use the silicone gasket maker stuff. Just make sure you align the pan dead on before you push it up there because it can get messy when trying to move it around to align the bolts.

As for clearance, it really isn't enough of a difference to matter, my wastegate pipe hangs lower and it still doesn't hit anything.
