The Ebay AND paypal still sucks... sure, you have a lower chance of being ripped off, but it still happens. Take it from me. I've lost $900 through ebay and $400 through ebay/paypal combined transactions.

F*ck paypal and the ebay horse it rode in on!

Dude why would you wire money over wester union to some complete stranger?? Always pay by CC or Paypal, anything goes wrong you at least have a big chance at getting the money back...

Ebay confirmed who it was sending the emails. They just won't touch it because it's WU.

Thanks for the responses guys. From now on i'm only selling on ebay unless it's under 100 dollars or so. I'll stick to buying my car parts from good people, like you guys.

Damn, man, sorry to hear about that.
A word of advice, if I may. When you guys receive any email from ebay or penpal, make sure you check their hyperlink, if it's not coming up as an address like www.ebay.com/~whatever or www.penpal.com/~whatever, it's not from them. The sender is watching the bidding and looking for someone to scam. See, they can always create a site to look very much like the ebay or penpal website but their web address will be different. They'll use WU since there's no way they can be traced. Western Union always warned clients "NOT TO USE THEM TO SEND MONEY TO PEOPLE THEY DO NOT KNOW", since they do not have an escrow policy or any type of purchase protection policy. In a way, the only way to fight back is reporting it to ebay or penpal, they'll need that hyperlink info and trace the sender and shut them down.

Yeah he used all official ebay stuff from ebay addresses. They've banned his account already and are looking into it, money orders are the new scam though through ebay, I should've just insisted on paypal instead of jumping on it thinking i was getting a good deal.

Money orders and cashier checks can be faked as well. I only take paypal or cash.

NEVER, EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER use Western Union to pay for something on ebay (or anywhere if at all possible). That is the number one tool for scammers and crooks, here and abroad.
