I need a PC which will be used for nothing but e-mail/homework/internet - nothing fancy so I don't care much about features. I only need the CPU, I have everything else. Has to be Win XP because I was told wireless cards don't work with older OS's.

So does anyone have a computer they want to get rid of locally, or know any place where I can pick up a used one that won't break the bank (it's not for me...)

I know west boca high school offers prebuilt refurb computers with key/mouse for $50 :0

 

She needs the computer with XP.

 

www.pricewatch.com is your friend or you can look around for refurbished computers. They're everywhere on the net...

Hmm, I don't really know what these things go for used, that's why I said the cheaper the better Worst case scenario I'll have spend the night in front of Best Buy on black Friday..

But if you have something in mind, please do let me know and I'll consult the person I'm buying it for =)

 

Man, I had a thread up earlier giving one away but nobody was interested so I shipped it off to my brother-in-law in Jax. Wish I had seen this sooner.

 

Win 2k works fine with wireless cards...

I would say, unless u can get someone to give you an old computer, then just goto any retail store and buy the cheapest one. If someone is trying to sell u a 3-5yr old computer for $100 and u can pay $200 or $250 for a computer thats 17times better, why not just spend the extra $100

 

Circuit City will be giving a laptop for $100 bucks on black friday. If you are willling to camp out there. I think it requires a one year vonage contract. (you can allways cancel the contract)

 

just got to best buy and you can get a good e-machines pc for about $400 if thats not too much.

edit: dell pcs are ok but once you have a problem, dont look to them for help. the nice thing about best buy or circuit city is being able to drive over or call if you have any issues.
