nitto 555 vs neo gen

so i need new tires before zdayz and ive decided to try something new.

my camber right now is eh: -2f -1.6r

the neo gens are designed for negative camber cars. treadware is 280 vs 300 on the 555s. so far im averaging about 16k miles on my t1-r's.

so do i skip the camber kit and try out the neo gens? or get a camber kit and stick with the 555s? or just get new t1-r's?

i figure i can always get the camber kit and 555s later if the neo gens are crap, but from what i see they look pretty good.

Neo Gen's are great tires. But you can go with any other tire and just flip them after 10k miles so you have fresh tread on the inside. With the neo-gens, they're assymetrical so you cant flip them.

the whole point of the neo gens is that you wont HAVE to flip them...

I know this, but they still wont last as long as the 555's or T1R's if you flip em.

do you know this from personal experience? the treadwares are all pretty similar and the neo gens are harder on the inside to make up for not flipping them.

i know this because i've changed over 5,000 tires in the past couple of years, so you can say that i've seen it from personal experience.

the neo gens have a 280 tread rating, but you cant flip em. The 555's have a 300 tread rating, but you can flip them after one side is pretty worn out (2-3/32nds) and have almost fresh tread on the other side (8-9/32nds)... you do the math.

then you're just the person i was looking to post up. sorry if i seemed defensive but i dont really listen to much of the driver crowd. its just nice to see someone who actually has experience with what they're talking about.

so i guess 555s are what i should get. that means i should really also get the spc camber kit. doh now i have to drive to orlando. when are you free sean?

no problem. Just trying to help fellow G drivers out. With less than -2.0 camber you dont really NEED camber kits, you can just flip the tires, but if you want to prolong your tire life then the SPC kit is a good way to go.

ya i flipped the fronts recently. about 28k miles on them so the new outsides are really worn but the rest of the tire is fine. first rears i got 18k miles and these are at the wear bars at 16k miles. only been lowered about 4k miles though. guess i just want to try something new but it will probably be which i can get cheaper. do you have a preference between the t1-r's and 555s?

Yes, Chuck likes his, BUT he has camber kits.

Spend the money now to get the camber kits and get even tire wear, or spend the money later buying tires too soon because the insudes are worn while the outsides have a life in them.

555's are blah.. theyre good tired for the price you pay but i think the t1r's grip better and ride smoother... i had the 555's on my stock 18's and the t1R's on my 19's and ride quality was about the same.. of course larger rims usually result in a loss of ride quality but changing the tires kept the quality about the same so from my experience the t1R's were better
