GOD you know me so well......

but seriously i think up there with nothing else to do a scavenger hunt would be pretty cool. Not saying all items have to be on the property of Fontana but you should have to drive to find some items and the prize cant be stupid like a K&N air filter. Make the prize substantial like tires, coilovers, swaybars, giftcertificate for a 1000 bucks to a performance shop.. You figure ZdayZ is cleaning up 50 bucks a pers X 250 people and free stuff from sponsors. I know there is going to be some cost but they should be able to buy one really nice item and let someone win it.

I completely agree...there should be activities car related and the prizes should be worth driving around ei: big narly tires, camber kits, exhaust and etc.... or maybe something like BullRun where you have to start many miles away and have checkpoints, time bonuses and other crap...i dunno!?

i think part of the problem centered around the activities is where people are from and what kind of drivers they are. some people who live close to the dragon or the 1/4 mile guys, arent that big on driving the dragon. then you have other guys who love to spend more time doing that. i cant speak for the poker run as i didnt go, but i think they tried to do a mix for everyone. meanwhile, we just chose not to do the run and drive the dragon instead. i have to say, coming from fl that it was like nothing ive ever done. hopefully next year, ill be able to keep up with mark, terry and mike heh.

Completely agree, the free drinks everywhere was nice (but they were donated), plaques looked cheaper than trophies, pictures are always good.

That is a valid point, we did get less, and like dTor said, last years shirt looked better, not a fan of yellow.

I feel the same way about Fontana, my group drove the Foothill parkway every night (another amazing crooked road with the great view, just off the dragon, Look Out point is amazing, on top of the world) on our way to Maryville to use cell phones, and visit Walmart. (There is no Walmart in Key West, you'd miss it too...)

For the people that drive long distances (6 hours for us) it would be nice if there were more options besides getting drunk and looking at cars. Maybe a group trip to Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg would be a good idea. My little group had a blast there.
Agree with you there. My family normally vacations every summer in Townsend, just south of Pigeon Forge. I would like to see another Poker run added, or the scavenger hunt that took us north, threw Pigeon Forge, Cade's Cove, Gatlinburg, Cherokee. Maybe a compromise, the South Poker Run, and all it's potential speed traps, or the North Poker Run, that is more scenic, although I never did see the famous Indian, "Falling Rocks" that is so well warned.

Agree with you there Darrin, they were fun. My 7 yo wanted marshmallows.

BTW, did anyone else take 28 to Franklin on the way home, that is another amazing road. Loved my navigation on the crooked roads, always new what was coming.

I didn't get a coffe cup this year either, even though the sponsoring clubs were given a bunch.

To be honest, I don't know if I will pay for next year's registration. We spent $55 this year for 2 dinner and the opportunity to enter raffles and a car show (add $10).

The food at Fontana costs roughly $10-12...so there is $20-24 of the $55 registration fee. $30 extra got me a t-shirt and what???

Makes you wonder how much is getting pocketed by the organizers.

EXACTLY! All those raffle items...ok, maybe not all...but a majority are donated. I'd guess they payed $20/head for food. $10/for t-shirts, etc.

So they are pocketing $20-30...multiply that by the 250 or so registrants...that's $5000!!!
