Don't take this personally, but I'm sick of people saying that you shouldn't go turbo or high power because you have an auto. Turbo autos are actually faster than manual autos (look at the supras) for 2 main reasons: tq converter, and no boost loss during shift.
In order to hold the power, you have to upgrade a 6MT clutch and flywheel, which can cost you anywhere from 2,000-3,000 depending on how much you want to spend. FYI, auto tranny upgrades are cheaper (VB and tq converter) or slighly higher (fully built tranny) and will hold the power just as good and shift FASTER. Hell, I chirped 4th last night on my stock VB
OP: don't let anyone tell you not to turbo your auto...they've obviously never driven one
+1 to what ttrank said. I had a Vortech, and now twins. There is no comparison. 400 ft/lb at 3k...sit back and enjoy the ride.
relax. i also drive a 5at before you get on your soap box. if i had 30k, i would be rocking a built jwt tt with an sgp tranny in a heartbeat. but i dont and wont anytime soon. therefore, for most people the vortech is a simple and safe alternative at an affordable price. i simply mentioned the auto so that he would know what tranny upgrades he needed. i dont like turbos on stock blocks because they are too rough but that is my personal opinion which is what he asked for.Originally Posted by 617G

I have a 5AT running 9lbs on a built block until tranny upgrades and it's doing just fine.Don't take this personally, but I'm sick of people saying that you shouldn't go turbo or high power because you have an auto. The Stillen will get no votes in this crowd.
Vortech > Stillen in every possible manner. It's possible to get 450+ rwhp with the Vortech with supporting mods (NA mods + 2.87 pulley), & good tune (built block would be recommended for such power). With the Stillen stage 4, you would be lucky to get 330whp on the dynojet.

I vote APS TT... But Vortech S/C if u wanna stay under warrenty.... Sawgrass does it. Depends on ur budget and how many ponies u wanna push.
the only reason i didnt get a 6MT is becuase i find the clutch to be very hard... in fact, harder than my 1966 corvette, and my 1967 GTO... both with origional clutches.....
im going vortec i think.. how much is it at sawgrass?
