megan racing catback 03 sedan

Just put a mr cb on my 03 6mt ob sedan. Looks/ sounds great except that its is louder at certain rpms than I expected. Im doing a CAI and plenum spacer next and fear it getting louder. Any suggestions on more sedan friendly sound w/ HP increase... what are peoples experience w/ y pipe sound? Tune? THANKS

haven't heard what a MR sounds like in person. I've had the stillen gen2 full catback for a long time now and it sounds great with good gains as well. I have a CAI, headers, plenum spacer and a kinetix plenum too. I think it sounds great and not that loud. I live in a deed restricted community and no one has ever complained.

Unfortunately, the bolt on mods aren't going to add a lot of hp, especially for cheap. You're going to need something like a UTEC, F-CON or Up-Rev to tune the car with a computer. You can't just make adjustments under the hood.

IMO the UTEC is the best bang for the buck. The unichip will give you good control N/A but is lacking if you ever boost it.

I would go for a couple more N/A mods before you tune, the CAI and maybe the UD pulley? If you run a lof of Audio/video maybe no go on the pulley.

Only go with straight JDM products. Don't go with our USDM HKS either. They have special robots over there that produce far superior welds then our USDM robots. All USDM stuff will crack. JDM robots FTW! I heard they use unobtanium in most of their exhausts???

Dude, you heard? Hopefully you have some facts to back it up. When you are on a budget and you have the "mod" bug, you want immediate vice save now for later. Plenty of people on this forum and to include my350Z have megan products, or better yet, non-JDM products on their cars, and most are still going strong. Test pipes 15k plus miles and still going. Can you take chances here and there, sure. But when you are on a budget, you need to look elsewhere and do some research to get the most out of the money you currently have. Plenty of good USDM products out there. If money were no issue, i would have THE ACTUAL Impul kit on my car vice the extreme dimensions GT kit. Give the guy a break

i read the "i heard" part and stopped reading at that point. That's actually pretty funny, unobtanium. You can swing that in the next austin powers movie.

Yeah I was kidding. I'm building a little DD Eclipse GST almost exclusively from ebay parts. 36mpg and 400whp for $3000(plus the cost of the car) using nothing but paypal and not breaking the motor open(do headstuds count?). Jeremy and I are going to have a little tuning fun with e85 and WI when I come back to Orlando at the end of January. To give you an idea, I bought a knockoff to the Megan racing catback and got it for $200 shipped. I'm spending all my money on the turbo, clutch, injectors and DSMlink. If an exhaust cracks I'll have it welded.
