BS...My last two tickets were from a rear lazer hit with the FHP sitting in the grass high on an on-ramp as cars whizzed by. Both times it was in WPB near Okeechobee--and yes, my Passport went off but it was too late...

I've got a V1 now, but it still wouldn't help with that...

FHP is also using laser in Martin and Brevard counties, too...

Got rid of mine after coming within 1 point of losing my license. Detectors do nothing against the cop who leaves it off until he pops you.

I had a Belltronics detector a few years back. It saved me everytime I had it, but a lot of it was luck. For some reason it just stoped working after about 6 months. Luckily it talked to me and told me there was an error. I sent it back and received a full refund. I've had 2 tickets without it since. One it would have saved me, the other it wouldn't have mattered. Cop said it looked like I was speeding. Yes, in NC they can do that.

I have the Belltronics and I swear by it. I've had it for 3 years now. Has paid for itself many times over. I've only had 1 speeding ticket since I got it.....and it was because I was being paced by an unmarked FHP.

I love my V1. I still get tickets here and there but it has saved me a lot.

Passport 8500 +50

Valentine V1

Bell 65

All good.

But....

and you knew there was a "but", they are only as good as the guy behind the wheel and the cop out "there".

Happened yesterday (not me), cop waited till the car had topped the hill and then he popped him. Smart cops leave the radar off until they see someone. The lazy ones leave it on all the time. They are the ones that are easy to find. I have detected them over 10 miles away. It's the bastards that leave it off till the last minute that I hate.

The V1 and the 8500 are both good. The differences in performance are almost unmesureable. In most detector "shootouts", the company that give the most sponsor money to the test company usually wins the shootout.

I remember right after the big Escort came out, Car and Driver did a Shootout. Everything was crap except the Escort and the Fuzzbuster. The results were just about identical. Well, they got supisious and took the Fuzzbuster apart and what did they find? Inside the Fuzzbuster was the guts of the Escort! From then on, C & D only tested "store bought" models.

However, I have been a little pissed off at my 8500's as of late. I have had 3 total and everyone has given me the ol' "Service Required" message. I may just be the good ol' South Texas Sun that messes them up. I have had 4 different GPS units in the last year and a half also.

SON OF A B*TCH!!!!

I just read this thread yesterday, and wouldn't you know it....just 5 minutes ago, i got my first ticket in the G! arghhhhhh! hahaha freakin sucks. I know they have this speed trap all the time on roosevelt, near FCCJ and I always slow down (even though I have a Valentine one, which by the way, always lets me know ahead of time if they are shooting the radar gun) but today I got hit by the Laser, and I jumped on the Ebrake (so i wouldn't be too obvious) and scrubbed some speed off but it was too late. Damn laser got me.

Cop was cool though. He asked me what the hurry was, and I said "to be honest officer, I was trying to beat the train" haha... I literally work 1 minute away from where I pulled over. 62 in a 45 (trust me, everyone drives faster than that on this road) he cited me for 54 in a 45. oh well.

So 6 years at my current job, and I always laugh at people getting pulled over by the speed trap. I read this thread, and get pulled over the next day. Bahhhh!

radars can only do so much. ( I still endorse V1, it still can't protect you from being an idiot)
