radar detector and tickets

hello people I have a quick question..
I was on 95 today and the traffic was slow cuz some guy was pulled over and i notice he had a radar detector... My question is how many of yall have a radar detector and still get speeding tickets. I'm trying to buy one that "really" works. I have a friend that had a radar detector, but after he got a ticket he threw it away

i swear by my passport 8500. however i have still gotten tickets...

1. cop said he radared me but i didnt realize til after he was lying since i never saw him.
2. sound was off by accident when i had taken it out of the car.
3. laser - nothing you can do unless you jam it.

i still think a good detector is worth it. the only 1s i would consider are the valentine 1, passport 8500 and 9500. mine has saved me enough times that i would never get rid of it.

Radar detectors are illegal in VA, so I cant confirm or deny I've never used one....

Yeah, they're useful, and I love my passport 8500. I prefer to use my eyes though. As long as you use it as a back up you should be good. Look into a V1, or a Passport, and don't touch anything off of ebay.

+1. a good detector isnt foolproof. drive smart and it will help you well. im surprised with the way i drive, i still have a license. you can ask most of the fgc.

Bel RX65.. Been using it for almost 4 years not one Radar ticket and only two laser tickets but it went off each time LOL. Not much you can do about that other than using a little common sense. They won't be shooting laser on 95 so it would be a good investment.

YEah but be careful with the laser jammers since it might be illegal in your state I know the cops out here will dogg you bad if they catch it once then theyll search your car the next time and take it. It happened to me and my buddy once but luckily he didnt write him a ticket, just took the detector/jammer.

The Passport and BEL are made by the same company, so the Beltronics RX65 and Vector 995's that I have are similar to the Passports internally.

I have had radar detectors for ove 20 years and they pay for themselves if you do your part. they don't give you carte blanche to speed with immunity. And they don't do anything about laser except let you know when you have been lasered - sometimes. But then it's too late.

The best protection would be an integrated radar detector and laser jammer combination.
