Quote: Don't forget to add Med Pay to your policy and get decent liability and property damage limits. 10/20/10 doesn't cut it.

If you get Med Pay, which adds additional medical payment benefits to your policy in excess of PIP, and which will pay the 20% of the medical treatment for which you are responsible, the Med Pay will also cover any PIP deductible that you may have. Raise the PIP deductible to $1000 and save some money IF you get Med Pay.

Im not sure about this but I dont think there is PIP anymore.

I think PIP died Oct '07...I don't handle auto claims anymore, so I just glossed over the notice when it came through and I cannot recall the exact date...

That said, in reading about ridding the PIP--and I think it will eventually be entirely dead which means if you are at fault in an accident you lose a lot of benefits of a threshold injury defense, it's a lesson that all of us should be toting around at least $100/$300k in liability coverage. For those of you with assets, anything less is suicide in Florida anymore...

Don't question me about insurance!!

PIP did sunset effective October 1, 2007, but the legislature passed new legislation after the sunset to renew it effective January 1, 2008, with some revisions. So, it is mandatory now. Some carriers dumped it if your policy renewed between 10/1/07 and 12/31/07, but most kept it in effect.
