richies v2, passport gt2 & 5% tint

picked up a strut bar from peter (dubz) and was bored saturday morning so threw it on. took about 30 mins with walking back inside a couple times for tools. richies instructions are super easy to follow. i was able to get the driver side bracket in on the first try without touching the ac line. hardest 2 parts were loosening my drivers side strut bolts and sliding the 2nd side of the bar into the bracket.

helpful tip: i installed the driver side first since there was more sensitive stuff there. then i wrapped a screwdriver in a cloth and place it on the end of the bar to slide it in easier. once i had it between both brackets, i used the screwdriver as a lever to compress the bar and line up the hole. it was a little tricky since i was prying with my right hand and using my left forearm to hold the bar in while i inserted the screw with my left hand. a friend would probably be helpful here for an extra hand.

bar is all the way down with plenty of space over the cover and injen cai. i dabbed some polish on the high corners of the bar and closed the hood to check for clearances issues with no problems. i have a md 5/16 spacer in the garage to throw on and that should fit fine, only thing there will be hood clearance.

beat on it a bit this weekend. car seems flatter and easier to point where you want it to go. cant wait for some real twistys at zdayz.

picked this up on ebay a couple weeks ago for $55 shipped. neat little gadget for the price.

at first i had it up on the windshield while i figured out what to do. i tested out a couple different locations but the tape wouldnt stick to the dash so i went back to the idea rick (rugratcoupe) used on his g. fits like a glove and i was able to tuck the cord along my vent and seat with no issues. i have an 05 so i plugged it into my center console. rick also drilled through the side of his cubby for an even more stealth look.

ive been using g-meter 12: 2-axis graphs with peaks. give me both a 7 second graph of forward/rear and lateral g's while also displaying the highest peak over that time. havent had the time to find some open space for runs but threw out a rushed 0-60 of 5.8s with a lot of spin. ill work on that later.

jason (aboostedg) hooked it up with his tint buddy the other week. my 20% tint was messed up on the drivers side window and i always wanted darker. i kept saying just 15% but i gave in and got 5% all the way around with nothing on the windshield. its pretty tough to see out at night but im always rolling with my windows down so its not really a problem.

this is also for all you "neat" g's out there. theres an overpass being built right in front of my condo so i drive through 50 ft of dirt/rocks to get in and out everyday now. definitely representing my d1rty motto!

you should be fine with hood clearance. i have the md 5/16 spacer and the richie v2 bar with the engine cover and it clears everything just fine. but i have since removed the engine cover.

I kept looking at the pic on your avatar and looking at the engine compartment thinking to myself, "That can't be the same car?" With such
a great looking G why would you post pic with it dirty? I
have a 1/2" MD spacer and Richies bar fits fine. Since I've already hurt your
feeling with this post may I give you a head up about Richies bar? Find someone that sells Grade 8 bolts/nuts and replace what Richie sent you.
The first or second time you try to loosen those stainless bolts you'll understand!

no hard feelings man. so since we're being honest, why are grade 8 bolts/nuts better?
