pc boots up and beeps. monitor doesnt come on because its not receiving a signal. im leaning towards the vid card because of that. until i prove thats not it and then i cry because its my motherboard.

 

Try popping out the MB battery, I've done that twice on my friends' computers and the damn things booted up perfectly. Hard to tell but since you mentioned the card causing problems before the is most likely the problem.. I'm sure it's time for an upgrde just go pick a new card up lol

 

if it boots up and beeps like normal then it probably is something besides your mobo. If you have more than 1 ram chip try taking one out and using the other. If that does not work swap out the other. I can't tell you how many hours have been wrapped up in bad ram.

I would also try resetting the cmos battery and jumper. Your mobo instruction manual should tell you how.

BTW

You said you have a 6800GTX. It has been a while but I never knew they made those in PCI express flavors just AGP. That means the card you want won't fit unless you have a hybrid. What mother board are you using?

 

when i put my computer in sleep mode and try to turn it back on, my monitor does not get signals after that. so i unplug my video cards power cord going into the mobo, than plug it back in. than it works fine.

you said it beeps, look up the beep codes online to see what it corresponds too. i might have an extra card or 2 in the garage lyndon, but gatta let me know if your using AGP or PCI, give us your specs man!
