check engine light
guyz.. i remember havin startin the car... and my slip light... my vdc light and the service engine light(which is what is still lighting up.. not the check engine light).... but i then realized that i didnt plug in the mas sensor on the intake... so i plugged it back in and the slip and vdc lights went off.. just not the service engine soon light.. could that be the case? do i just need to reset it.. or could it be that i havent put rubber plugs on the 2 radiator lines that i joined wit the new elbow connector.. i just taped them for up til i get the chance and get the rubber plugs
YUP ! discount auto parts there everywhere ! or advanced auto parts too they do the same thing ! i go there now and then to get my check engine light reseted too i have a bad co2 sensor and it acts up once in a while !
went to advanced and it wuz cuz of my mas sensor and intake.. came on becuz i hadnt plugged in the sensor when i started the car... but about restarting the ecu... i've read about the battery disconnect method and pumpin on the gas holdin or something like that.. whatz the best method?
yeah i figured that.. but i've read up that the reset helps bring it back to factory set up... bein that the car gets use to driving style of the one driving it.. and i bought mine used.. or is that just bs
The ECU adjusts itself (sometimes called learning) so that your engine runs close to its original parameters. The ECU's OEM mission is to make the engine run within the emission levels it was designed for. This learning phase is widely misunderstood and usually doesn't add any horsepower. That's why lots of people reset their ECU before they make a dyno run.
The plan is to get a tune and set the ECU targets to levels that will help your performance. That way the ECU learns towards the settings you want.
