Places to eat in Miami and South Beach.

Hey,

I am going to be down in the area in November and wanted to know people's recommendations on where to eat.

A nice place in South Beach. Don't want to eat at Joe's stonecrab. Heard some bad things there.
A rec for cuban restaurant and an awesome Argentine grill would be appreciated.

Cuban restaurant on SW 8th St and 34th Ave called Versailles, great food always packed. A few blocks down like around 20th Ave is Casa Juancho, a bit nicer but pricier. Its a dark brown building on the south side of SW 8th st. You can also check out Poor Cow in the Four Ambassadors building on Brikle ave in Downtown Miami. Las Vacas Gordas on NW 79th St around Collins Ave. If you are looking for steak houses, in the Coral Gables area there a few. Gracianos is on 2301 Galiano St. also in the Gables area. Hope this helps out.

Thanks for recs so far. We have Versailles down here in LA too. I wanted to try someplace else in Miami. Which ones are cuban and which are Argentine?

Versailles in Little Havana is a fantastic restaurant. I highly recommend it.

For the argentine rest try The Knife.
there is one in Coconut Grove and one in Bayside (next to the Miami Heat arena)
there is also Los Ranchos and they are in the same locations... love em both!

for the cuban resturant, dont go to La Caretta (overrated)
there is a new family chain called LasVegas Cuban Rest and its awesome but its mostly in Broward (ft. lauderdale) but if you drive down SW 8th Street between SW 8th Ave and SW 27th Ave there are 100's of Authentic family owned cuban resturants and just look for the cleanest, one with parking and i promise you; you will love it!!

and if i were you i would skip the Argentine resturant and go Brazil....

Texas de Brazil or Porcoa which is pretty much a $40 plate of alll you can eat top quality meats...

and forget the Pizza at Pink Pony........ you can have steak and seafood at Tootsies and much better quality T & A's....

best places in town are Rainbow Palace in Ft. Lauderdale (its gonna sound crazy but its gourmet chinese food and its hands down ridiculously good Fack PF Changs!), Texas de Brazil in Miami Beach, Mai Kai (changed owners so I dunno if its still as good as it used to be), and Cacao.
