Anyone replace their wiper blade inserts?

I mistakenly bought just the inserts, not the entire blade with bracket. I've read that you can just grab the inserts with a pair of needle nose and pull them out. Anyone done this? I guess the new ones "lock" into place somehow when you slide those in? (that's what she said) Thanks!

You don't even need pliers. It's hard to explain... but you slide the old inserts until you hear a "click" sound. The insert will come off of a "U" looking clip. Then you just off the blade and put the new ones on.

Eric - as long as you keep that avatar, you can post anything you want. lol
Ryan - thanks but I ordered only the blade refill, not the entire wiper bracket. This is what I bought: http://www.lokeyinfinitiparts.com/se...n-Wiper/Detail I got the bracket off the wiper arm (the U clip you're talking about) but now I've got to figure out how to pull the old blade insert out of the bracket and slide the new insert in. No big deal - I'll either figure it out or bust it and go buy a whole new assembly. lol

Don't take the arm off...

There's a small barbed section on the wiper blades that you press in. Just press it in and pull the blade out of the wiper... Some times you have to hold the small arms so the blade will slide out... Then just push the new blade in the same way you took the old one out.

Believe it or not, you can find really nice wiper blades at big lots of all places, haaha.. I bought some there (blue coral brand) for my wife's car. They have the sizes that we need for our car as well and they are all $2.50 each!

FINALLY replaced the blades

My first attempt at a "how-to" post so bear with me. Sorry for the poor pic quality but here's what I was talking about. You can replace just the blade inserts in the "blade assembly."
First, remove the assembly from the wiper arm (as described by others in this thread).
Pic 1 - Get a pair of plyers and grab the end of the blade. Pull up on it slightly and then slide it out of the blade assembly.
Pic 2 - You'll notice two "tabs" on the blade refill. DO NOT REMOVE THESE! They hold the wire support blades in place.
Pic 3 - There are grooves on the sides of the refills that slide into the blade assembly. They sort of click into place as you slide the refill in.
Pic 4 - The tabs will work their way down the refill as you slide it into the assembly. Remove them when they get to the end and slip the end into the assembly.
Done!
Whole process took me about 5 minutes. It took longer to take the pictures. lol PM me if you need more info. The pair of refills cost less than $14 from Infiniti.

Nice writeup... Those are the wiper blade refils we all buy... no need to take the wiper arm off, but glad you got everything worked out.
