Hey I was wonder if anyone a name of a good performance shop in orlando that can install a rear camber kit and align my tires. Also if someone could explain the advantage of having a toe bolt put on with the camber kit.

Hey Casey. I didn't really meet you, but judging from your screenname I guess you're the one with the white g with the "g-tastic" license plate, lol. I was the guy with the batman emblem.

First, you don't have to go to a "performance" shop to do those things. There's a handful of performance shops here in Orlando but alignment and a camber kit is stuff most places can do. I would save them for the fancy stuff.

The rear camber kit is really easy to install yourself. Just need to lift up your rear, take the wheels off and remove the rear camber arms. And of course replace them. If you want help doing it, I can probably help you out. Just let me know...

As for alignment, I have a lifetime alignment with Firestone. Most any shop can do alignment, it just depends on how picky you are, or how accurate the guy working on your car is gonna be. Build a relationship with a shop and the mechanics there, and they'll take better care of you. I know a few people go to Firestone in the Orlando area, but then there are those who will swear that's a horrible place to go.

As for the advantage of the toe bolts...

Alignment is basically made up of 3 measurements: Camber, Caster, and Toe

When you lower your car, camber goes negative
like this / -- \ if your looking at the car from the front/back
And you have to adjust it back towards 0 (zero) if you wanna be back to factory specs...

Usually when your camber goes out like that, so does your toe. Negative toe will eat up tires more than negative camber. That's like if your wheels have club feet

What the toe bolt does is allows for a bigger range of adjustment than the factory toe bolt. However, the way it works, you'll need a bigger hole drilled/dremeled out of the chassis where the toe bolt is installed to take advantage of the extra adjustment available.

Me personally? I did not install my rear toe bolts because when I fixed my camber, my toe was fixed too. But who knows, that may change over time. Every car is different. Most people install them. And I will likely install mine sometime in the future. They're sitting in my garage now...

FYI: Good choice on going back to the stockers! Good luck with the mods, and hopefully we'll see you at some of the O-Town G meets...

Over this past weekend, Ian and I were discussing having another tech/install day sometime soon. That would be a good time for everyone to get together and lend a helping hand. It would probably have to wait until after the holidays though.

 

First off thanks for all the great information and advise. Yah I own the Ip with the g-tastic license plate. Another tech day would be sweet. As for the camber kit I'm going to look for a DIY thread and install it myself. I plan on trying to make a Wednesday night meet before the month is over. Again thanks for all the help.

P.S. Shawn congrats on winning the swaybars. I gave up on winning the timed prize after the first mile!!!

 

get the lifetime alignment at firestone you can get an alignment everyday if you wanted to.
my toe bolts werent installed correctly so i have good toe but neg camber

I would love it if you guys had a tech day. Im still a little gun shy about installing my camber kit. So I would defiantly bring my G by and lend a helping hand. Plus it would be great to meet everyone.

 

Its advice..... We are giving you advice and advising you to get the lifetime warranty. And as for the tech day let me know if its soon ill wait and do the cats myself.

I think he's picking on your spelling. The word "advise" is a verb. You're using it as a noun which should be spelled "advice"
