Angry Auction Direct on Blanding Boulevard keeps trying to Screw Me

This may be an overreaction, I surely hope they are not intentionally trying to pass their old junk off on me, but frankly I am irate right now and no logic will stop me from typing this.

I bought my 2006 Infiniti G35 Coupe from Auction Direct on Blanding Boulevard in the beginning of January. I was told that the manual and navigation DVD would be included. After the purchase is made, they tell me that they have neither of them and would order them in for me. I was okay with that.

Three weeks later, they called and said they had my naviDVD. I take it home, pop it in the car and it's a 2004 version that will not work in my car. I take it back near the middle of February when I took my car in for servicing and the man who was in charge of my car told me he would make sure I got them and would have them overnighted to me.

About of week or two later, I go back up there and a woman in service says they haven't come in but she will track them down and make sure I get it. Few days later she called and said they were going to overnight it. I was stoked

I just got home to find a FedEx package waiting for me. I eagerly open the box and find that the DVD is scratchy and says ''Maps 7.0 Released 2004.''
My jaw dropped. I put it in the car and it works but it says the maps version are 04-05, and I'm not okay with that seeing as how I paid $24k and it's an '06!
I return inside disappointed but interested in the large case which holds the manual. I remove the plastic bag and spot a large sticky note that reads '' 2005 G35 Coupe.'' It's a bit blurry, but I might have yelled and hit something

So that is where I'm at. The car was also apparently in a fender bender-- which won't hold my left corner in it's place and the light doesn't work either-- when they had told me there were no accidents. Although I admit that it was not in the CarFax report. But honestly, one of the mechanics should have noticed that the hood was raised on the left side and the corner not fitting properly.
The car was also smoked in, but you can only smell the nicotine when the AC first comes on. Could the microfilter just need to be replaced?
Also my fault for not noticing, though. :/

So that was really long but I just had to vent. I'm honestly considering trying to return the car, but I love it, and the only other option is Infiniti on Atlantic which I have not read good things about.

If you actually read this, thanks, and please give me any advice, words of encouragement, constructive criticism, or sarcastic remarks you may have.

Depressed G owner,
Sean

p.s. perhaps if I mentioned that this is my first car you would understand why Im so worked up.

Honestly if you could get them to take it back and get out of the deal that might be a good idea. Know any attorney's that could pressure them? I Don't think you posted the mileage on it but for 24k you could get a 2008 G37 with around 30k miles.

I bought my 2006 Infiniti G35 Coupe from Auction Direct
well, you did buy from a "auction direct" place so i'm not really too suprised you got a smoked in, prior wrecked, no manual/nav disc car. I don't understand what people's obsession is with these auction places.

was told that the manual and navigation DVD would be included
Did you get it in writing? One of those "we still owe" sheets that dealerships use ? or was it verbally only? Did you sign something at the time of purchase that says they owe you nothing and nothing promised to customer? What is their warranty / return policy if any?

you can only smell the nicotine when the AC first comes on. Could the microfilter just need to be replaced?
yes, it is easy to do... get a purolator or aftermarket one for about $12 from the auto parts store. There is a diy on the forum..you just pull off the glove box to swap it out.

the only other option is Infiniti on Atlantic
There are dealerships everywhere and private party cars for sale. Honestly a private party sale would have prob been your best bet for something like this. "Carribeanblue" on here sells for Orlando infiniti and is in the Fl Club. So this auction place/Atlantic are not your only options at all.

....i was going to suggest trying to get some mediation with the Better business bureau but their record shows 2 complaints they didn't even respond to in the last 12 months, so it does not look too good for that. In the future you may want to check out a dealer's reputation before you purchase from them...especially a used car place.

Probably a letter from an attorney is your best recourse now, maybe they could get you out of the deal. The nav disc can be purchased but I think it's around $300 (no totally sure). I have also heard it could be copied so maybe someone on here could hook you up.

The damage is not that majorly significant. I looked again and it looks like it could have bottomed out the front end and moved stuff around. Prolly an overreaction in the moment

The nav disc and manual, however, we did get a ''We Owe'' on.

Waiting for the manager to call back now.

Also, thank you for taking the time to help me out. This will definitely be a good lesson for me.

Does anyone know which map version came with the 06?

Hey, check the VIN on the car. The 10th digit (letter or number) will be the model year. If it's a 2006, it should be 6.

The VIN and all of their paperwork used during the purchase agree that it is an 06.

I am sorry to hear about all of your problems with your new car.

I am a sales consultant at Orlando Infiniti, and I was just recently just talking with my manager about the auctions and the carfax reports. Those places are really sneaky, and they somehow can get a hold of the carfax report before the accident is reported, and they print that copy, so that when they sell the car, they can show you the "clean" carfax.

As for the smoke smell, just try changing out the in cabin air filter and see if that helps.

If you're interested in trading in, we do have three g35 coupes here at Orlando Infiniti, one is an 07 and the other two are 06. One is a 6MT, one is certified, two are Sport, and all three of them have Premium and Aero packages.

You can reach me at the dealership at 407-660-0077 or vjones@orlandoinfiniti.com if you're interested

Veronica

those places are crap. as painful as a dealership experience is, you know they will only try and cheat you of your $ and not a car. if you end up getting rid of this g and want help with atlantic, let me know.

Not all dealerships try to cheat you out of your money.

You paid $24K at an auction place for an 06 G coupe? Or worse yet--possibly an 05 coupe? Sorry to hear--you could've paid the same or less at a regular dealership that might've treated you better. Around here, 06 G coupes are going for $19K to $21K. I'd definitely keep hounding them for the correct Nav DVD, and if they sold you an 05 as an 06, I would think you have some recourse. Run the VIN to see what info there is as far as model year, etc goes and compare that against your sales contract. If they don't match, I think you may have a pretty good case.
