April 2011 Discussion Thread
^Yeah, I got it as a "walking around lens"
I have the 50 1.8 with which is way better with light (obviously) and tack-freaking-sharp... but fixed zoom can be inconvenient at times.
Then the 80-200 2.8, also great being a 2.8, but you got to be a long way off to get shots.
With the Tamron, I'll be able to go hiking or take vacation pics without carrying multiple lenses.
I actually had some other stuff in mind to get before this lens, but they were running a $60 rebate until the end of April, and I just couldn't pass it up.
2-day air, hopefully it gets here by Friday, it'll be great for the car show on Saturday

^Well....
Ideal: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc..._5_5_6_IS.html
Same as what I got: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc..._XR_Di_II.html (also has the same $60 rebate from Tamron)
Slightly better than the Tamron (includes IS/VR functionality) http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...6_3_DC_OS.html

I own the tamron 17-50 2.8 w/o Vibration Control and have taken amazingly sharp photos with that lens. Best bang for its buck in that range. Only complaint I have is the noisy AF motor.
Oh and also the fungus growing on it.
Keep your lenses dry, folks.
